Trump recently claimed that "EU was formed to screw the US".
Anyone with a glimpse of historical knowledge knows he's wrong.
But on the other hand: Maybe now is the time, just for once, to prove him right?
Fun fact: EU has roughly 110 mio. more inhabitants, e.g. consumers, than the US.

"They say they have rights to it. I don’t know if that’s true. I don’t think it is, actually." Says Trump about Denmark and Greenland.
But the US recognised Danish sovereignty over G. already in 1916. And we have the archives to prove that!

The Danish National Archives holds a ground-breaking document proving that President Donald Trump is wrong about Greenland
In a high-security storage facility at the Danish National Archives (Rigsarkivet) is a 100 year old sheet of paper with an American promise about Greenland. This is the fascinating story which Preside...

Preparing for a public lecture I'm giving at the museum tonight, on the 1967 Russell Tribunal on US war crimes in Vietnam, I just stumbled on this interesting text.

Guillaume Mouralis: “law and justice can be powerful tools of emancipation”
When international justice is lacking, citizens’ tribunals appear as a means of kick-starting justice. Guillaume Mouralis analyzes the historical model of the Russell Tribunal.

1. So - the International Criminal Court (ICC) warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant - www.nytimes.com/live/2024/11.... The one strong prediction I have - this is going to lead to US financial sanctions against ICC employees, and possibly the ICC as an institution. That is going to get ugly for the EU.

For once some good news from Italy: After the regional elections, Umbria is back in red!
Congratulations to PD, Verdi e Sinistra and other centre-left forces behind the new president of the region, Stefania Proietti. But first of all: congratulations to Umbria!

A new Starter Pack of Danish historians - let me know if you want to be added.

As you might notice, there is a bit of a gender unequality in the Pack, so please help if you can :-)

Simone de Beauvoir, Jean-Paul Sartre, Vladimir Dedijer and two others in Roskilde, 1967. How come these icons of the intellectual left had swapped the Parisian boulevards for a Danish provincial town?
They were there for the Russell Tribunal.
