Leaving the leaves is a pollinator-supporting practice with benefits for biodiversity, soil health and water retention, yet many municipalities have bylaws that prohibit it. One more reason why these outdated, anti-ecological property standards bylaws need to be reformed. 2/3

Emily Noel has been told by bylaw officers in Oshawa that she has to remove the leaf mulch from her garden because leaves are considered "waste" under the city's Lot Maintenance and Property Standards bylaws. 1/3

A significant victory in the legal effort to reform grass and weeds bylaws. Wolf Ruck of Mississauga was in the Ontario Court of Appeal yesterday, arguing that Mississauga’s enforcement against his naturalized garden were unjustified under Administrative law. 1/3 #BylawsForBiodiversity
