I guess, but I don't think it's for the casual fan, it's a way to organize certain competition matters such as start order and Grand Prix assignments. I don't think casual fans care about that.

Alysa took 2 full seasons off, that's why she's ranked low, the standings are a mathematical formula that looks at the two most recent seasons. There are other metrics, such as seasonal standings and season's best scores.

Yes, they were removed before the newest season started. They were, prior to that, illegal since the 1970s, when Bonaly was a toddler. They were illegal for 20 years by the time she did hers at the Olympics.

Depends on what happens at Nationals, but Andrew Torgashev should have a good shot at it. They may want to send some skaters to 4CC to compete for the World spots if Nationals look dire enough. They need someone who can secure 3 Olympic spots alongside Ilia.

It's so good! I'm impressed with the level of detail the writer puts into it. She does a really good job of balancing when to ignore the facts to tell a good story (like she's doing with senior eligibility ages) vs going deep into sporting nerdery like with step sequences.

I don't think the ISU can be blamed for NBC wanting exclusive broadcast rights in the US and that's on lack of public broadcasting for Olympic sports in the US.
