Yeah if you play to the end and the DLC you find out the MCs love interest got pregnant and had a baby. And she essentially has to hide it away because people are crazy from this drug called "Joy" and essentially will attack the baby and her.

That's actually a subplot to the videogame We Happy Few. The game takes place in 1964 with an alternate history, where Germany won World War II and invaded England.
