If I were a ceramicist, I would be sooo determined to replicate his mug!!

I use almost all of these for tea and coffee. The big Qunari mug is genuinely too big for me to hold comfortably, but I’ll use it for ginger tea when I’m sick so I don’t have to get up for refills 😂

Badass alert!

Thank you! I love it so much!

I legitimately fear I’m going to get poisoned when I drink from it. I know it’s safe, but the ancient part of my brain fears it 😂

Thank you! I love to create a little bit of fantasy in my home.

Thank you 🥹 that tea cup belonged to my grandma, Margaret, who I’ve mentioned to you before. (She also hand painted the flowers on the mug I used for the Orlesian mugs.)

I definitely feel like the combo of the flowers and the gold make this mug perfect for Emmrich!

Thank you!!! I still need to come up with some good Antivan mugs. Clearly my collection isn’t big enough yet 😂😅

You may think that Orlesians only drink from bone china mugs hand painted with flowers and gold, like the one on the right. But their love for the arts has them supporting artists who make more experimental, yet still elegant, coffee mugs like the one on the left.

A simple grey handmade ceramic mug with a delicate painting of the countryside and mountains is perfect for a Ferelden coffee. A small clay mug with black glaze on the lip is great for a thick, concentrated Ferelden brew but it also works as a wine cup!

A large, heavy mug with reinforced handle for a Qunari. Their coffee is spiced with anise, clove, vanilla, cinnamon, and ginger. But a strong espresso is served simply in this thick-walled mug without handle.

Ah, and the newest addition to my Dwarven mugs - a Dwarven demitasse!! Alongside a hearty, industrial, earthy mug scratched with the craftsman’s design. Coffee is too weak for a Dwarf, espresso is the only way. Coffee can be mixed with mushrooms and chocolate for a heartier drink.

I am overjoyed to share these two with you. The necrotic lichen look of the mug on the right screamed Nevarra, which is why I purchased it. The one on the left was originally Orlesian, but the flowers are clearly a Weeping Widower, as identified by Emmrich, so I’ve made this his mug.

The people and Wardens in the Anderfels drink as much coffee as they do beer, so it is nice to have vessels that can hold either. And of course, a nod to the cactus we see in Lavendel.

So our pebble nerds start grinding it finer than any surfacer would ever think to do. And they have high pressure water machines used for mining, but adapt it on a small scale to extract the espresso. And for sure they’ve got mushrooms in there, you’re so right!

My comment isn’t entirely espresso related, but I wanted to say it.

To your note, Linny, I do think the machine-focused dwarves would come up with genius ways to brew coffee. Maybe they begin getting it as an import but the drip coffee taste is mild and watery by their standards.

This…. THIS IS THE DISCOURSE I’ve been waiting for!!!
My first DATV run was with Ragu, who is a dwarf raised in Tevinter. I thought long and hard when Lucanis asked them their drink preference at the café. I decided as a dwarf, they preferred hearty but sweet, so they went with cocoa.

If espresso exists, it would be dwarven or qunari, since they have better mechanical knowledge to make something that can maintain the right pressure. The coffee maker Lucanis got in the Lighthouse was a percolator. Thedas would have mostly pour-over and sort of Turkish-style coffee pots.

Oh wow yeah I just went and looked up the 2006 list and there’s some good stuff coming out that year! But for sure The Killers takes the cake.

Oh wow Flogging Molly!!! I went to their show on St Patrick’s day in…2005? and AJJ opened for them. And some chick I knew got a bloody head wound in the mosh pit.
