So anyway yeah he was the first person to tell me recruiters were sociopathic lying sacks of shit, the mud on the bottom of the military’s boots, and I’ve never met anyone who could’ve possibly known it better than him. The recruitment system is definitively the human meat grinder. Grotesque

It was a horrible position to put anyone in, but he in particular had just…. been very, very lucky to have made it home alive. And they were trying to strongarm him into manipulating teenage boys into signing up for the same shit, a job he fundamentally could not do without lying, or get sent back.

-between getting deployed again (and being forced to stay in longer as a matter of course) or staying stateside and working as a recruiter for a few months. I had never seen him agonize over anything and had never seen him so upset about anything as he was about that ‘choice.’

- and I don’t know what happened exactly, if they totally needlessly told him a bunch of hyped up bullshit or if it was based on the experiences of his peers or whatever else, but I do know that after he got home from deployment and was nearing the end of his enlistment term he was given a ‘choice’-
