Well, damn it all if the finale of the Conners didn't have me sobbing. "Good night"

Maybe it's my analyst brain but I really want to know the behind the scenes of this marathon speech. I want the staff perspective - how we get him food, logistics of bodily function relief, how he stays hydrated, how the staff keep him focused. @booker.senate.gov is impressive as he enters hour 23!

the Collected Regrets of Clover was my favorite of these 3. Didn't like Pretty Girls at all - but also tells me that I do not want to read horror / true crime / thriller type books. Fable is the app I use and assessed my reading preference perfectly.

I purchased a book this week. I started with bookshop.org which then led me to biblio.com to purchase it used. My copy came from GlennDavidBooks.com in Wyomissing, PA. And my package has a lovely hand written note from Glenn and Nancy. My purchase was The Book of Joy.

I'm 50 years old. I'm trying to find ways to keep my brain active. I have been using Duolingo to learn Chinese and brush up on music and math. I am looking for a trombone teacher. I listen to books daily. What do you do to exercise your brain?

I work in supply chain. Conversations are happening and actions being taken about the tariffs. Those conversations include "what do we do about pricing" and the people who have to make those decisions clearly see that price increases are coming - that impacts the consumer. Meaning YOU.

I cancelled my last few Amazon subscription items. I moved off of Goodreads and on to Fable. I removed 18 years of photo albums off Facebook. Investing in external hard drives to store photos. Auditing "likes" on my personal page, scrubbing posts on my blog page on Facebook.

I have been consistently reading (listening) to books everyday this year. I have always loved reading and have lots of books but "never had time." As I pull back from social media, I find that I can open Libby when I want to check a platform. It's been a nice silver lining.

Perimenopause symptoms can make joy a real struggle because the irritation and rage can just get really loud. So today, my joy is not choking anyone.

I asked chatgpt to summarize this quote. So here is the TL;DR: If we let intolerant people spread their ideas without limits, it can destroy tolerance for everyone. While it’s best to argue against these ideas, we might need to stop them, even by force, to protect a tolerant society.

When asked about commitment to DEI in today's environment, our CEO said that we are a supplier to the federal government and may have to make changes based on their requirements to written policies. But that as a company, our values remain and we value diversity of thought and experience and people.

I made a yummy salad. Bag of cole slaw (chopped cabbage), carrots, chopped sugar snap peas, cilantro, mint. Dressing - sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, ginger, chili crisp. Recipe also suggested pickling red onion in the dressing. Topped with slivered almonds. Yummy!

I work in supply chain. My work is global. When I consider where components come from and where finished goods all go, it may be impossible to list how many countries I touch. The trade wars will have enormous consequences and will heavily strain and break many supply chains.

Today, I am finding joy in my holiday tree. I have always taken my tree down on New Year's Day. This year, my tree has brought much joy and I didn't want to take it down. I thought by end of Jan, I'd be done. Nope. So now ... Holiday Tree celebrates Love.

This morning, there was a beautiful sunrise. Deep red at the horizon, clouds catching pinks and magentas. I didn't get a picture but the awe of it was something I noticed in the start of my day.

What impact will the CA wildfires have on supply chain? Immediate demand on basic needs like food, clothing, etc. Higher demand on personal safety gear for clean up and recovery. Higher demand on building supplies when rebuilding begins. Increased stress on logistics, transportation.

As I seek to remove/reduce usage of Meta products:
- exited Threads
- Reducing FB/Insta
- switching from Whatsapp to Signal
- Joining Substack.
Hard to fully exit FB and I, especially for some orgs I volunteer to do social media content in those platforms. Also have a lot of pictures to save.

For lunch, I made a BLT. Arugula for the L. Tomatoes aren't in season but it was ok. And just a couple of thin microwaved precooked slices of bacon. Mayo on some toast. Simple. Delicious.
