Hi, I’m Lizzie. I’m the co-chair of the Cardiff proto-branch of Your Party and I am standing to be the representative for Welsh voices on the CEC.
Lizzie Bailey has been chosen by grassroots members to run for the Welsh seat of Your Party’s Collective Leadership on the CEC. As part of the TLG, Lizzie assisted in the passing of two motions at the Founding Conference, requiring Your Party to commit to trans liberation. Lizzie is committed to representing Welsh voices in Your Party, and supporting mass member led democracy, and strongly believes that liberation for one is liberation for all. Lizzie said: “My name is Lizzie and I am committed to fighting for socialist change, both within Your Party and beyond it. I've been involved in a variety of political groups and have taken on roles such as LGBT+ officer, Women's officer and co-chair of UNISON's national young members group. I've also been involved in local community organising including Palestinian liberation groups, anti-fascist groups, and educational workshops. I've been learning about politics and social injustice since I was a child, as I wanted to understand why hard working people still faced significant financial issues. I went on to study politics at university for my undergraduate degree and completed a masters in sociology in 2020. I believe our society has more than enough wealth for us all to live long, healthy and fulfilling lives, but in our current political system all this wealth has been concentrated to a small number of individuals and this needs to change. Your Party can help drive this change, but we need to build a party that is accountable and speaks for ordinary people. I am committed to building Your Party from the ground up and have taken an active role to help build our local protobranch in Cardiff. As the CEC representative for Welsh members, I will ensure I represent the grassroots membership and continue working to help build a party that delivers change for the ordinary people that make up our communities and Your Party.” TLG calls on Welsh members to endorse Lizzie once endorsements open on 21st January.
