Decided to grab some popcorn.
They missed…”you’ve done and left me and taken all my sheep”.

It is absolutely possible that there has been, but due to the lack of social media we wouldn’t know.
Ignorance is bliss, and all that.

This articulates so well how I feel about these issues, and also about my relationship with faith and religion. Thank you.

It never ceases to amaze me how even survivors can fall into the “he was very nice to me, so he’s a good guy” mentality.

My teenager wants TikTok banned, just so she can observe the total meltdown of a lot of her peers.

The Schoenberg family archives are there, I think. That’s tragic.

Can I add, that as a middle class woman of a certain age, all this makes me feel is…tired.

Near the beginning of my teaching career, I went to a retirement do for the head of English at my school. She gave a very cutting speech, ending with a quote from Hamlet, which she finished off by saying “and for those of in the English dept, that’s Shakespeare”.

I’ve watched my kids go through it (the final one, this year), and it is so lightweight compared to what we did. None have done any Shakespeare and there is a reliance on film adaptations. A real push on Scottish texts, which on one level I get, but it becomes so..parochial.

Higher English: Austen (p&p) Huxley, Greene (Brighton rock)
Arthur Miller (all my sons),
Poetry: Manley Hopkins.
Don’t think we did any Shakespeare, but we did two or three at ‘o’ grade.

The food was superb. It was a lovely trip. Tbilisi reminds me of Edinburgh; lots of history, and very hilly.

It’s when reading this, that I appreciate my children having inherited my antisocial tendencies. The youngest is also now 16, so I don’t need to pretend to be “one of the mums”.

Very much looking forward to the barpod episode, “Jesse’s adventures in Blueskyland”.
