solidify can be weird with hard surface stuff, you can try to switch it to complex mode and set thickness mode to constraints so its more even

You can cull the backface by checking this box in material properties instead of doing transparency in the material cuz it seems like that's what you're tryna do

if you scale the object like x10 it becomes infinitely easier to paint around edges especially at lower texture sizes
