Yes, me too!

I think we either need AVs, or driver driven cars, or neither. All AVs might be good coz we could get rid of parked cars. AVs don't mix well with drivers as they have different logics and liable to conflict. Neither might be best! (Dream on!)

5/ The regulation process should enable long term planning including adaptive investment and the maintenance of assets. Regulators' responsibilities should encompass all sources of pollution: as well as water companies, pollution from highways and agriculture need to be managed.

4/ Regulators (including the Environment Agency and local planning authorities) needs sufficient funding to do their job
April 23, 2025 at 3:18 PM
3. Government should coordinate 'soft' infrastructure a) data sharing platform for transparency, including citizen science b) public engagement strategy including key messages (e.g. 'respect for water') and infographics c) attention to the chronic shortage of water-trained personnel.

2/ Democratically steered catchment bodies should specify regional standards, coordinate monitoring, invest in required infrastructure, and support partnerships (with local authorities and community groups) to enable responsiveness to regional circumstances and clarity for developers and landowners.

1/ We said we need a government plan for water
emphasising respect for our water systems. Taking a whole systems approach, it would coordinate priorities between water services (water supply, flood resilience and river health) and with related sectors (agriculture, transport and urban planning).

So that is what you rushed off to!!

3. Mobilising public action to address water requires regional democratic oversight
March 30, 2025 at 8:34 PM
2. Excluding the public from engaging with the water system represents a missed opportunity to enable greater resilience.
March 30, 2025 at 8:34 PM
1. The current water system treats water supply, drainage, and flood protection as isolated technical domains, managed by experts for a passive public.
