IGNIS reworks images from Hans Baldung Grien’s woodcut, “The Witches 1510, no doubt influenced by the demonizing Latin text “Malleus Maleficarum” (The Witches' Hammer) by Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger 1487. IGNIS reclaims fire & the female body from puritanical patriarchal demonizers.
