Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll. A thriller that radicalizes the genre by focusing on the women affected by violence instead sensationalizing a serial killer.

Thrillers aren't my go to, but this one was incredible. The killer is not named and barely shown. There is no gratuitous violence. The focus is on the women his violence affects. Slower paced but no less gripping for it.

Book recommendation for Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll. In this book, the killer isn't charismatic and brilliant. He's shown for what he truly is: pathetic. Instead, Knoll rightly focuses on the Bright Young Women affected by his violence, which in turn, radicalizes the genre. This is an adult thriller set in the 1970s with sapphic representation.
