Also I found Neocities thanks to @cloudhiker.net, a colleague of mine recommended this to me years ago, I'd forgotten about it, until an email reminded me. It's a fun way to stumble across the 'built by people parts of the web'! A nice reminder that tech doesn't need to be stressful, one I needed.

I cannot tell you how much joy this brought to my evening. In a web that feels seemingly controlled by social media and big tech, it's nice to see Neocities and the likes of BlueSky, Lemmy etc offering an alternative.

Terry Pratchett wrote of Golems with no sex who chose to be identified as men … and Gladys … the Golem that identified as a woman … and was respected for *her* identity …

and wrote of the importance of words we *choose* for ourselves …

And making up our *own* mind on what that means.

The one thing that was tempting Mobi over Libre was the sync and android app side of things, as Word/Excel and OneDrive do make this easy at the moment. It's a fun rabbit hole though as I'm learning more about self hosting, sync functions etc. Always good to keep learning though. 🎓

To be fair I had already been opening @libreoffice.bsky.social more frequently when I needed to use Docs, so after starting my switch out earlier this year LibreOffice was in the front running anyway. 😊 I need to check back on its Spreadsheet update as I'm still stuck in Excel at the moment.
