If you're as sad as we are that Fat Bear Week is coming to an end (tomorrow!), here's something to look forward to! My pal @marthabee.bsky.social and I wrote a picture book inspired by real-life fat bear Otis, and it will be out in May!

Even though The World's Best Class Plant won this year's Giverney award, it's still feeling sweet and humble enough to be an end-of-the-year gift for your favorite teacher or librarian. Perhaps with a spidery little Jerry alongside! @audrey-vernick.bsky.social @lbontigao.bsky.social

Congratulations @karengebbia.bsky.social -- won't it be lovely when these books are fully knit (fully baked?) and out in the world??

The desire to soften. To be vulnerable. To open up.
Right when the world seems to be saying nope…

In case you need a nudge, today's National Haiku Poetry Day! Maybe give one a go? Don’t worry about getting it just right. Think of it as play.

Immensely grateful to Lea Ann McDonald and the Carmel by the Sea library foundation for my visits with students at the Stevenson School and Captain Cooper Elementary this week. I was reminded of why we keep hoping and doing, in all ways.

I'm been remiss in sharing the true honor that Full Moon Pups was featured in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library this fall. Dollywood partners with local and regional library foundations and other nonprofits to get books into the hands of kiddos aged 0-5. A generous and important miracle.

My WRAD schedule is nearly full, with schools as far-flung as Hawaii and Connecticut, Wisconsin and California. Huge thanks to @katemessner.bsky.social for helping herd the cats every year. It is good to have joy and connection on the calendar. katemessner.com/zoom-with-an...
