Things in the garden are beginning to wake up. 🌱

Traveling though Japan, where pretty much every tree is a work of art. 🌱

Just a reminder that spring will be here before you know it. 🌱

Spotted today at a local nursery. This delightful little flower looks like a grumpy, funny little old man and it made me smile. 🌱

A little bit of garden whimsy and an example of how accidentally lovely plants can look in their second or third year when they fill in and start jostling for space and tumbling over each other. 🌱

My favorite spot in the garden right now. 🌱

I planted this Aromi Azalea two years ago and this is the first year it has flowered. Beautiful, delicate scent. #gardening 🌱

The Sarracenia are blooming! 🌱

I love the early spring blooms on this spirea. 🌱 Interestingly enough, I had 3 of these planted: 2 purchased from the nursery and this 1, propagated from a robust one I had at my old house. The other 2 struggled & are definitively dead now. Shows the value of cloning plants that thrive for you.

Seedlings coming along nicely. Another week or so and I’ll plant out the cool weather crops under insect netting, which means more room to grow on the warm weather plants like tomatoes and peppers. 🌱

I love walking through the garden in the mornings this time of year, there is always something new to see and there is rarely bad news. Today, these little ephemeral flowers popped up on the mossy stairs. 🌱

A little zen for the day. 🌱

I find myself much happier in the garden these days than reading news or engaging in social media.

If you’re in the Nashville area and love eggnog, I will put it to you that the absolute best you can find is by Homestead Creamery at Fresh Market. You’re welcome. 🦞

Spotted in the garden for the first time this season. 🌱

And the first of the Satsumas ripened… it was tart and sweet and better than any store bought one could possibly be. Almost time to move into the greenhouse for winter. 🌱

First of the satsuma fruits 🌱🍊 are beginning to ripen. This, along with the key lime, will move into the greenhouse for the winter; it’s too cold here in 7a to overwinter outside. As long as we don’t get another brutal temperature drop like last year these will be very happy over the colder months.

Autumn inspection of the bees who are doing well and sipping on all the late summer wildflowers like goldenrod. 🌱

I love this time of year when summer shifts into fall and the light changes and the days get cooler and everything is faded but still beautiful and lazy and sun-soaked and you just want to squeeze in every minute you can outside.
