I've had that happen to me to and it's so heartbreaking. Thankfully my boys play hockey so I almost always have a blanket in the car. I've started carrying a few extra plus some of those silver space blankets. No one should be hungry or cold.

We started doing this too when my son started school and it occurred to us how harmful it was to others. It's worked out well for our kids to learn gratitude and for other kids to have someone who gets the same price range of presents from Santa.
