If the government under the BCDNP can use $624,000,000 of public funds for the FIFA World cup, and $575,523,000 of public funds for private schools, they have money to build public schools.

In 2000, the BCNDP government spent 2.7% of GDP on public education; in 2024 they spent 1.6%.

The unavoidable fact is that the biggest school district in BC needs the biggest budget in the same way that a child who has the biggest feet needs shoes that fit. What’s happening now with funding is that Surrey is like a child with size 11 feet being asked to make do with size 9 shoes.
