I'm a queer, trans ex-evangelical atheist with a lot of opinions and thoughts.
with the passing of this budget bill, and with the actions of the current administration, and the recent rulings by the supreme court, I feel like it's clear that the current government doesn't represent us nor cares about us. so I'd like to present a little slogan: Deny, Defend, Depose.

I never imagined fascism would be so mundane. like you read about it in history, and its so punctuated and dramatic. but living it is like... my country, safety and rights are falling apart and being threatened and I still have to get up and do all the normal things that I was doing before?

@indivisible.org I had a thought for a protest, but I don't know how to organize anything like that. What if we protested along the route of that military parade that trump is planning? media eyes would be all over it. and it would be a good way to get a large voice for the no kings message.

@aoc.bsky.social hey, AOC. ok. I have a plan. Get a warrant, get police, get fire dept, legally break in to the USAID and Treasury, get workers back in, and get a team to take the payment systems back. you'll have bargaining power then, and the coup will be neutered. direct action is needed.

@aoc.bsky.social things Democrats need to fight right now:
AI research as it stands. it needs more regulation and standards. as it is it's just a tool for disinformation propogandists.

Tiktok ban needs reversed.

social media standards of ethics need to be pressured and possibly legislated.

@sanders.senate.gov Mr. Sanders, we need Democrats to be more outspoken right now and to present a united front atleast publicly against this administration. if you don't do so, I don't think you can win midterms.

@aoc.bsky.social just need you to know that everyday Liberals and Leftists are asking why Democrats are being quiet and why you all are not standing up and fighting and pushing back on all the executive orders and bans. people aren't hearing you speak out.

I'm still over on Facebook because the majority of my friends are still there at the moment. but I was scrolling over there, and I saw an article where some rich guy was comparing Elon to Einstein, and I laughed. Elon probably thinks the E=MC² is one of his estranged children that he forgot about.

the tick tock ban, and Meta brown-nosing trump and some of the interviews surrounding it has shown me how controlled we are media wise. ticktock wasn't banned because of Chinese interference. it was banned because it was competing with other social media companies.

What should we do when people abuse their rights, or use them to take advantage of the system? Examples that I can think of are hate groups using their free speech to spread bigotry and disinformation. or churches or religious groups using their freedom of religion to lobby for laws that favor them?

I was just on a comment thread on Facebook about meta rolling back DEI. It was interesting how many people who support the ideal of a meritocracy, but also at the same time were against DEI. it was a bit discouraging too. it's interesting to see how from the outside how conservatives view the world.

I'm starting to worry that trump is serious about annexing Canada.

I have a bit of a prediction. at somepoint, Elon Musk is going to kill Twitter/x and at that point I would bet that he will create bots that tell him how awesome and manly he is and how proud of him they are.

Gay people kissing or holding hands in public is “gay ideology.”

Gay teachers being visible in school is “gay ideology.”

Gay couples raising kids is “gay ideology.”

Some politicians dismiss gay lives as an “ideology.” But we’re people. And we will keep existing despite the political trashing.

for the people that look at LGBTQ+ people and think "I ain't letting my kid ever be like that" here's a news flash for you:
you don't have control over your children. I was raised as an Evangelical Fundamentalist and a Republican. I was taught to be homophobic and transphobic

For the Cis Heterosexual people in the world, Maybe consider that there are experiences of gender and sexuality beyond your own. consider that maybe, just maybe Trans people are valid in their experience, and people in same sex relationships aren't broken. open yourself to new experiences.

when minorities experiences are silenced, empathy suffers. and society suffers too. we are deprived because of people's lack of wanting to listen, and we are lesser for it.

I love this song. but I also love that someone connected it to being LGBTQIA2S+

Usually I feel proud and defiant when I hear this song. lately though I've just been crying. My queer heart is breaking because of the laws against us and the power the GOP has now.

if a certain post is to be believed, Facebook is about to get very hostile to minorities. it seems they may be putting restrictions on business for a number of reasons.

I genuinely am convinced that Republicans want to destroy the country so that they can say "look how broken the country is, elect us and we will fix it!"

with how the election went, part of me wants a recount because of how critical of a turning point this election is.
but on the other hand, I also hate this is where we are now that we can't have confidence in our institutions to be fair or to serve the public interest.

if we survive this presidential term, we seriously need to stop and take a look on how we can stop it from happening again.
I think its clear that we can no longer lean on imperfect institutions to work in the interest of the public.
