My @polyarcgames.com Discord takeover kicks off in a few hours (6p ET, 3p PT)! 🐭

I'll be chatting with Polyarc's Design Director Chris Bourassa, Senior Artist Kieran Lampert, & Community Manager Kristen Carlisle about Moss, Glassbreakers (mostly), and the state of the #XR ecosystem.

See you soon!

15 - At first, this felt more concerned with MTX than meaningful content, but the last two update after leaving early access remedied that. This game has infinite room for growth from an already rock solid foundation. Great stuff and I hope development continues.

14 - I loved Vertigo 2, despite some nebulous storytelling. It was jarring after being Sonia for two full games to transition to Brian being the protag, but the gameplay holds up, the level & creature design is still top notch, and it neatly wraps up an at times tough-to-follow plot.

I don't know how I brainwashed @polyarcgames.com, but they're letting me take over their Discord again to grill, I mean leisurely chat with the team about Glassbreakers! 🐭

Join me next week for a roundtable talking about the new characters and any secrets I can pry out of them. 👀

13 - I grew up in the gaming era this game represents, so I related to this one a bit more than its predecessor. Again, Arvore nails the aesthetics & despite the limited runtime, the gameplay switches things up so often I was dying for more when it was over. Absolutely tremendous.

12 - Long overdue to play this game-within-a-game gem. Some legitimately challenging platforming and the Matryoshka doll-like set up was terrific. Great boss fights and Arvore nails the aesthetic. Any gamer mid 30s and up will appreciate this kick of nostalgia.

11 - It's 2025 & a developer thought a VR movement system where you can ONLY move in a straight line & snap turn was a good idea. The admittedly fun horse races are hurt by clunky controls.

With patches, this would be awesome. As is... only cozy or horse loving gamers should apply.

10 - Civ VII VR - A MESSY VR implementation plus bad onboarding makes this a hard sell for newcomers to the franchise like me. For those starved for this genre in VR, get through the friction & there's something here, but I have a hard time seeing anyone preferring this to the flat game(s).

9 - The predecessor to my frontrunner for 2025 VRGOTY (Arken Age). Some parts really haven't aged well (stiff NPC & enemy animations, for one), but weapons are fun, combat is passable, & the two boss fights were pretty fun. Worth a grab on a sale.

8 - Wow, I'm behind. A nice little bit of 'Life Is Strange'-like storytelling marred by a clunky node teleport movement system & some odd rhythm minigame mechanics. Get past the friction and there's a REALLY good story being told here.

On my Twitch streams, we play a game called 'Guess The Clip' where viewers can win stream currency if they correctly guess the game in the clip from a previous #VR livestream.

Can you name this game? First correct guess gets a cookie!

@kroyvr.bsky.social, you're not allowed to respond.

A quick recap of the "great" year VR is having, or at least the narrative others would like you to believe.

Alien Rogue Incursion releases on Quest today, 2mos after the initial release on Steam & PSVR. I'm livestreaming it tonight (after demoing another game) & having a chat about the increasingly perilous plight of your average #VR game developer.

7 - A great start for a woefully underrepresented genre in standalone VR: racing games. Decent track variety, controls fairly well, this is one to watch. The devs seems commited to updating the game based on feedback.

This is arleady great and could be brilliant down the line.

6 - A chaotic (in a fun way) hand tracking tech demo. Not much more to say about it. As a piece of hand tracking onboarding, I like it better than Meta's First Hand app.

5 - I love dungeon crawlers, dating back to the first Zelda game. Fairly short (sub 5hrs), but packs a lot of variety into its 13 locations. Fair selection of weapons and items to discover, but the currency system felt inbalanced & a way to force replayability. Liked it, didn't love it.

Early year is the perfect time to dig into the ol' gaming backlog, so tonight we start VR dungeon crawler, The Morrigan.

We'll also hit on some VR News & there's an opportunity to win a trove of in-stream currency to buy rewards from my stream store.

I cannot get enough of Arken Age. Seriously.

Y'all can keep your dystopian future fetch quest empty world survival games & arcadey shooters. Give me large scale fantasy in VR all day long.

For my personal tastes, this game is friggin' brilliant.

4 - One part oceanic conservation PSA, one part chill deepsea adventure, this brief (I fininished in 90mins) lacks some quality of life options. Can't turn off the fast movement vignette, for an example. The story's not bad, but it's a fairly limited experience you'll likely only play once.

3 - This hinges on the story b/c your interactivity is limited & it (mostly) delivers. The whole premise of being a consciousness in cyberspace was really interesting (reminded me of Republique) and the interactive puzzles were fun. Plus multiple choices & endings adds replay value. Good stuff.

2 - What a breath of fresh ai!. The scale, the weapons, the environment, the music, the combat, okay maybe not the story (which is still serviceable). Sci-fi & fantasy are my jam and VR doesn't get nearly enough of it. Also ran bug free for me, a rarity nowadays.

I love this game. Buy it now.

Puzzle games sometimes aren't the most compelling things to watch, so my viewers and I get on the wildest tangents during puzzle livestreams.

Back on Twitch with #VR news & more of 7th Guest VR from Vertigo Games.
