I don’t think so because they all came out around the same time and Weiland was kind of his own thing. I think Ed was repulsed by post grunge and might’ve seen it as unoriginal and low brow. That’s why you never saw any of those or nu metal bands open of for Pearl Jam, I assume.

He’s been connected to Ed a lot too. I think he’s moodier like Layne was, but his baritone register is very similar to Eddie’s. Godsmack literally named themselves after an AIC song, so that’s pretty clear. But also - Days Of The New. To me, they were like AIC’s Creed
