I've been playing Final Fantasy XVI and really enjoying it. Especially loved getting the tar beat outta me by a gigantic hot bird lady.

One of my favorite things about "The Highwayman" is the lushness of the descriptions. Alfred Noyes spent a whole stanza describing the titular highwayman's outfit, AND HE WAS RIGHT TO DO SO!!

We got back from our trip to Italy and I plumb slept until 3pm. Here's a picture Holly took of me at a ruined castle!

Commission for dear pal @thestarfishface.bsky.social !! A companion to the art trade piece of her character Lapis from a bit ago. This one is Laz, Lapis' mysterious counterpart/foil/???, with Adonis annua, which has a variety of common names including, pertinently, "blooddrops".

Of course it did take me a bit of effort to dial in my setup. Here is a diagram of my first attempts to digitize half-frame negatives with my digital camera and the resultant scan of that same negative.
Slightly scribbly, meticulously labeled diagram of my absolutely barbarian initial camera scanning setup. A digital camera is mounted on a tripod, pointing down. Attached to the camera is a stack consisting of a K-to-E-mount adapter, a vintage macro converter, and a nice vintage Pentax lens. This apparatus is pointed at a Pixel 6 phone, on which sit 2 spools of sewing thread, on which are balanced a strip of film, which is flattened by sandwiching each end between two taped-together popsicle sticks. The phone is open to whitescreen.online at maximum brightness. Close-up of some sort of rusted wheel. The colors are very bright, but the edges of objects are sort of fuzzy and crunchy.

Today in Pathfinder, Zhia'a had to be on his best behavior at a fancy party and mostly did a great job! (He did on one occasion fail to perform a backflip for a merchant he was trying to impress.)

A couple of recent favorites! 💕 Fuji slide film that expired in 2005; cut down to size, shot on my mini Yashica TLR, and cross-processed in my ad hoc basement darkroom.

We also went to The Container Store and I got these nifty little bins to organize my film fridge (specifically the expired film shelf because the canisters have trouble stating upright on the grating, and also because it is substantially more populated than the fresh film zone)

Sunset at the old limestone mill ✨
