I tested a half dozen grasses. The bluestem did really well, but the straightness is inconsistent. The northern twitch grass albeit shorter had nicer straight stems. For fine pattern screens the twitch grass wins, but for plain screens I think blue stem is the best native grass.

Oldest printed book I have is a 1944 published book, La Tente Noire. I have many modern reprints of far older titles, mostly on Japanese armoring manuals and portable architecture.... but the oldest printed is 1944.
