"You always have a friend."

I can't count the number of times Larry Peterka said that to me. I never wanted to bother him, and so more often than not, I didn't. Wish I could go back and change that now. Rest in peace, friend.

DO NOT WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO DIE TO REACH OUT TO THOSE YOU LOVE.

Orioles players see this as a happy marriage between tradition and modern times — a way to keep the human element of baseball while accounting for the technological advances that can serve as a check on umpires.

Human umpires will still call the balls and strikes, but this offers teams a chance to overrule an egregious miss.

When crossing a parking lot with wee ones, please keep them beside or in front of you! Just saw two small boys nearly hit by a backing SUV that couldn’t see them, the mum way out ahead. She only looked back because of my panicked reaction.

How do you go from a twelve hour #RiverMonsters marathon, directly to Harpoon Hunters?! It's like, here's hours and hours of seeing these beautiful, remarkable fish--oh, and now here's this guy that will show you how to kill them. 😕

Just entered "outbreak" status at Dad's care home--5 cases in 24 hours. It's difficult to get out of. If there is one thing I wish I could get folks to understand, it's that this isn't paranoia or sensationalism. COVID is still a danger in an enclosed, vulnerable population.

At every step, Colton Cowser has gotten better and stayed the same.

Cowser, the Orioles outfielder, is a finalist for AL Rookie of the Year tonight. This is the story of how a “goofy” kid remained just that — goofy — even as he rose toward stardom:

The migration from Twitter/X to Bluesky feels very much like the migration from LiveJournal to Dreamwidth, back in the day. Invites, updates on who's come over, even clones that may or may not survive (note: most of LJ's ultimately didn't). Hopefully this site has some staying power.
