I do want to be clear - I don’t think Trump is a victim, he created these circumstances for himself. But I wouldn’t be shocked if someone took advantage of his desperation to maintain presidential immunity in exchange for favors. And one recently prominent figure has exactly this sense of humor…

Well, I also feel like putting the responsibility on the populace to fact-check everything they encounter is unrealistic. Most voters are employed full-time, they have family responsibilities, many uneducated, etc. One fact check can take hours, few have the time. Instead blame the lying leadership.
