Meanwhile, in the book, it took the queen being threatened off the throne to finally give up. The movie doesn’t convince me that henry didn’t have a choice the same way the book did. I would’ve loved for the king to be more ruthless to make henry standing up for himself truly satisfying

The reason i dislike this scene is because of how soft they made the king, how easily he gave in to henry. It made all of henry’s struggles about not being allowed to live his truth bc of the crown baring down on him seem flimsy. I felt like “oh, if all it took was this, henry wasn’t as trapped”
