I've found a cobbler in the next town. I can go there to shop on Saturday & see if they can fix them. I could buy new ones but they're £99. Completely worth it but the old ones are fine apart from that

But a full year difference for being 3 months younger! Not getting my bus pass was annoying, though after a while in greater Manchester they gave us special ones to bridge the gap

The search is certainly pretty useless

Actually the credit card I use is disappearing shortly, hence all my shennanegans with obtaining a new one (almost but not quite there btw) so I don't think giving them it would be much of an issue anyway

I start getting arsey at the point when they claim ownership of women &^ children. And isn't it the oppressive attitudes of "them" towards women that they use as an excuse to claim they have no place in "western society"

Especially since so many school regimes just now seem to be designed to make life there as unpleasant as possible.
I understand the need to deal with bullying & aggressive children but the blanket imposition of pointless & sometimes bizarre rules makes life even harder for normal, well-behaved kids
