i think, that in some aus Sam was really like r e a l l y depressed after Frodo has left. Here's one of such aus.
He tries to w a l k through the sea. One does not simply WALK through the sea. Im sorry, but Mordor is not liquid at least. And it's Sam here. He can't even swim.

In case of Sam it is even worse. His first child has blue eyes, his second child is Frodo..
And Frodo, Frodo Baggins is the only person or smth about which Sam can think.
