He’s lowering the value of the country’s “stock”, so that he can purchase it for pennies on the dollar; then he’ll make bank selling it piecemeal to wealthy investors who see the current “staff” (the citizens of the US) as inconvenient and replaceable - like he would any other hostile takeover.

Isn’t that tech idea from the movie Elysium? Is he really referencing a film about how the elite keep all the good stuff for themselves?

I imagine it’s anyone or anything actually existing to his physical left.
