Watching Harry Potter with my son
Son: I thought they couldn't use magic outside of school
Me: they can when they are 17
Son: I can't wait to be 17 oh yeah I might not be a wizard how old are they when they find out they are a wizard
Me: 11
Son: I can't wait to be 11!

As a kid the tiny church that I was raised and eventually married in found out a Chinese immigrant that opened the first and only Chinese restaurant in our town filled out his immigration papers incorrectly. The church helped him with his paperwork to bring his wife to the US from China. #BeforeMAGA

Right leaning economist that consider themselves moderate do a lot of mental gymnastics.

I interviewed for a position within my current department and it is weird actually extremely awkward to answer questions about your work and experience with people that work with you 40 hours a week and have formed their own opinions already. 👎👎

I thought Powell's video would be the headline today.

Guess this hypothesis will be tested in the morning.
From one idiot to another, maybe the stock market keeps going up because we are all idiots.

If you have an informed opinion about this please know I wasn't talking to you.

Watching friends going through personal tragedy while desperately grasping for a way to make God good and to be able to hold onto their identity comfort and community is too much and dredges up old hurts that I have learned to live with but never answered.

The sky is blue and other obvious but more depressing observations I feel compelled to say into the ether. As if by saying them people will see what is already apparent. 💔

I don't really want to talk about groceries but it's measurable and a practical way to agree things are broken and I don't have the words for the for the less tangible but more haunting and dangerous ways the American dream is crumbling around me.

In my grocery store Quaker oats old fashioned oats standard size is now over $8 dollars. This used to be poor people food. The small bags of coffee are now $15.99 a jump from 12.99 and the previous 9.99. Cheerios are now $7+ I remember being upset when they went to four during the pandemic.

What if the final act of AI is a formula explaining human behavior with such accuracy that deviations are not choice but an overall degradation of the system and the collective illusion of sentience is broken
Or....

From my vantage if you are still trying to convince people to do what you think is right or believe what you believe you haven't escaped the cult of evangelism.

Welp found a piece of crumpled paper in the 9yo's backpack stating wrapped holiday socks are due tomorrow. Frantic trip to the store only to realize I'm out of tape to wrap the socks. Made it happen with some double sided tape in the craft drawer. Phew 😅

I'm honestly surprised by this. Maybe I need to find a job with better benefits.

Maybe the stay at home parent should have a contractual agreement for services with the working spouse with money paid that can be counted as an expense on taxes. Then if there is a divorce there is some protection provided to the stay at home spouse.

Tried to pray which involved 20 minutes of me explaining again in excruciating detail why I'm angry at God and then I cried.

Anyway this painting comforts me. Goodnight

If you are giving birth or attending a birth and there are at least two people attending the birth (friend/ family). Assign one person to the baby and one to the mother.

My 9yo has to read 20 minutes every night as part of his homework. Tonight he had chatgpt write a story about a fishing trip and read that for his homework. I'm dismayed to say his review was, "why is this so good I'm pretty happy with this story" 🥴

I just can't get over that this lady who by many accounts is a bully and holds extreme Republican views saw through Trump before my family and friends that consider themselves kind good and moderate. Even now they will not speak our against Trump or even whisper to me maybe I was wrong about him.
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I was called a traitor by a man that I fought for 6 years for. I gave him my loyalty for free. I've never owed him anything. Let me tell you what a traitor is -- a traitor is an American that serves foreign countries."
