In my view, it's key to think of a nation as being different than a state. Rather, a nation describes a group of people who are then represented/governed by a state. This is a long way of saying that what JD Vance is asking is," who's really an American?". You can guess what his answer is.

It was supposed to be Creedal actually oops. I'm no expert. As I understand it, a creedal Nation is a nation that is defined by commitment to certain ideals that are realized through forms and laws. Alternatively, one might talk about a nation as being defined by its culture or some other feature.
