Which, I suppose, is the purpose of a memorial. So - since we can't all go for a walk on the Downs near Patcham - here it is. We will remember them.

More than a million soldiers from the Indian Army served during World War 1, on the Western Front as well as outside of Europe. It hits me mostly, I think, because it's a story I was never told. I wouldn't know if it wasn't for the memorial we passed on walks across the Downs.
