They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

The CBC is over and the House Sparrows won! But there were a great number of raptors in the Park, as well as the Chickadees and Titmice are back. The Pool had this gorgeous American Black Duck socializing with the Mallards! #birds

The 125th annual Christmas Bird Count is happening today! I will be counting in Central Park (it’s 25 deg F out there! 🥶) Still hoping to find a Owl, but maybe a Cooper’s Hawk will have to do. They are fast and slender and can shoot right through dense growth to catch their prey! #birds

There seem to be at least 3 Cooper’s Hawks hanging around Central Park these days. Two immature ones and one adult one today!

Had a not so common Red-breasted Nuthatch visit Central Park today!
Definitely smaller than a White-breasted one.
