I wonder how much of the damage done by social media is simply a result of expanding our social networks.

In a social group of 50 it’s not that hard to find an identify by being the best at something - cooking, running, history.

In social groups of 100s or 1000s that changes.

Visible progress begets progress

Vibe coding is for folks that are already good at programming to judge “is this a plausible solution”.

The benefits will accrue to the top programmers far more than non-programmers.

Steve Jobs said the personal computer would be a bicycle for the mind.

I have found that my laptop is indeed a bicycle for my mind, but my phone is not.

It may seem the phone is just a smaller laptop.

But the input (two thumbs) is so limited that it becomes a tool for consumption, not creation.

#1 lesson learned from the Threads false hope a couple years ago is that it’s not enough to simply talk about how “this places isn’t twitter”
