Banks used to practice charging your account in certain ways to tack on as many overdraft fees as possible until laws changed this! When I was a kid, Compass bank waited wks to apply charges to my account AND applied all my SMALLER CHARGES AFTER my funds depleted, charging me $500 in overdraft fees
