A Poor Wayfaring Man of Keef
Most of the “waste” people freak out about is just lack of familiarity with large numbers. Anyone who has done real corporate finance/budgeting work looks at those numbers differently. And fed govt is just a whole different scale. Ends up in arguments over rounding errors

Might just be more valuable to have your TAM only include the rest of the world that uses a lot of tik tok

not sure it's possible to overpack a thru hike

No one is going to underwrite an offering ahead of the election and he's pretty limited on how he can sell as an insider. Thankfully securities laws are still laws. Bigger win for him is probably being able to encumber his shares as I assume mgmt will let him do that after the lock-up
March 25, 2024 at 7:56 PM
He probably gets to the other side to be able to liquidate Truth Social interests by that point honestly, but who knows what the market for those shares looks like after the election, but even with a haircut he'll have liquidity

True sometimes, very untrue other times. 16 hr days are very very real

Because it was politically unpopular among his base and he's a politician!
March 5, 2024 at 9:46 PM
Could be missing something, but not all of those are the same significance level. Also have to dig into the number of people making that determination of whether you're correcting for the false positive (or at least ostensibly so) structurally
March 5, 2024 at 3:12 PM
lol what do you think a constitution would look like if it were drafted by women w/ voting power?

General immunity has been answered a couple times--criminal immunity is a different thing and yes the answer should be obvious

Good portion of the problem is just taking republicans seriously when it comes to deficits+revenue neutrality, but there are just inherent blocks in the system where you can't realistically even propose tax rates increases for anyone in the US aside from a small percentage of the population
February 27, 2024 at 9:57 PM
It is so odd to look at something like tax policy, which to a large degree just represents undoing a couple decades of Republican priorities, and accepting the Republican framing of the issue as punitive w/o any cognitive dissonance w/in the overall framing
February 27, 2024 at 9:40 PM
Alright dude, if you want to ignore the significant role played by Romney MA healthcare reform, more power to you. Calling it a Dem effort seems pr silly. It's possible to acknowledge that republicans are bad faith actors, AND the ACA was needed reform, BUT there are significantly better options. ✌️
February 27, 2024 at 9:06 PM
but if we want to leave it with, the Democratic Party is basically flat from '92 despite a changing electorate, fine, still not great vibes
February 27, 2024 at 9:00 PM
I would say that's probably a large product of changes in issues like LGBTQ rights that are more left across both parties, so hard to disentangle that. Huge enduring legacies from third way/neoliberal dems on abortion, tax policy, immigration, health care, etc.

Not at all accurate (for example). www.wbur.org/news/2011/12...
February 27, 2024 at 8:51 PM
The pew research trend line for Dems is basically flat from 92 for both the house and senate
February 27, 2024 at 8:48 PM
Seems super pedantic (and generally missing the point beyond that) to insist that general healthcare framework crafted by the Heritage foundation, but in a GOP bill, and reflected in things like MA healthcare reform doesn't embody at least a part of GOP thought pre-ACA.
February 27, 2024 at 8:41 PM
Sure, but support of LGBTQ issues has also gone up significantly among Republicans. Political positions don't occur in a vacuum and there isn't an ideal right/left position on an issue. EVERYONE in aggregate is more pro-LGTBQ.
February 27, 2024 at 4:11 PM
lol I dislike Biden because he's not very left, not because he's too left. You can easily reach back into '09 recovery policies from Biden that were clearly Keynesian. More recent examples honestly if you look at COVID spending, which bridges both admins
February 27, 2024 at 3:39 PM
HEART bill bro
February 27, 2024 at 3:24 PM
The ACA w/o a public option was effectively the early 90s Republican position on healthcare
February 27, 2024 at 3:19 PM
Joseph Biden is president my dude
February 27, 2024 at 3:07 PM
More to say that the neoliberal streak in the Democratic Party has been consistent for over 30 years and you're missing a key political trend if you're not paying attention.
February 27, 2024 at 3:00 PM
Definitely saw this with the immigration bill where a bunch of democratic voters supported it on the idea that it must be liberal bc of the source
