Who knew Laurie Anderson had thoughts about genAI?

My wife and I have been using IKEA nightstands for years, ands I’ve been designing replacements in my head for years. Finally committed pencil to graph paper over the summer. Started them about a month ago, and finally brought them up from the workshop today. #woodworking

Done and in place. The full extension drawers are kind of insane.

There is nothing like the feeling of taking something that exists only in your head and bringing it out into the world. #woodworking

Rarely do I get a piece of junk mail that clearly grasps the current economic reality, but this one gets it.

There ended up being some amazing colors and grain in this rotten piece of maple that otherwise would have been pitched for being too hard to split and too rotten to burn. 4/4 #woodworking

A few weeks ago, I cut them down into nice Euclidean shapes and used packing tape to seal all but one side. I mixed up a bunch of epoxy with mica flakes in it for color, and set about filling the voids left by rot and bugs.
The epoxy also bridges cracks and stabilizes rotten areas. 3/🧵 #woodworking

Last fall, my SIL had some trees that needed to come down, and she saved some logs for me. They were bug-riddled and rotten, so I stuck them in my fancy solar kiln for a while. 2/🧵 #woodworking

This is a lidded bowl I turned from found wood last week. Here’s a thread on how I made it. 1/🧵 #woodworking

I’m reorganizing the #workshop and built a rolling cart for my drill press. Instead of drawers, I put Gridfinity grid on pull out shelves, and have been printing specialized bins. #woodworking

That's awesome! Way cooler than the one I made. Though mine has Joust and Dig Dug...

One of reasons I love woodturning is the subtle ways the wood tells you what it wants to be. And sometimes not so subtle. In this case, it wanted to be a much shallower bowl. #woodworking

I've improved a few pieces of wood, parented two amazing kids, written a couple of decent poems, and mentored some data analysts who I believe to be forces for good in the world.
