Maasai number one and a half to 2 million. Many Maasai, perhaps most, prefer sleeping in their traditional homes on their traditional beds. I'm not about to say, or even to imply, that they are wrong. I believe that implications of wrongitude in this thread snuck in with a certain duvet proponent.

A cot is more spartan (and narrower) than a standard single bed. It can sometimes refer to a folding bed with a thin mattress, or else something like this.

Ah. So I'm familiar with all the kinds of windows mentioned. And I live in a house now where all the windows either operate on a crank or fixed. But in certain parts of the country are windows like the below really so rare?

Spent day voluntarily offline (😮), exploring a local Quaker Meetinghouse, built 1780. Brand new by German standards, but a pretty darn old structure round here. It was built with seating for 1,000 people: hard to show how big it is because it's bifurcated. Separate men's and women's sides.
