The mission is and was to grow students into responsible citizens.
120ish years later, it remains a place that keeps the students focused on that myth and promise.

Drilling in Alaska is expensive and the permafrost is increasingly unstable.
I imagine there will be test wells and very little actual production.
To justify the investment, oil prices will need to be much higher than they are now AND plausibly expected to remain in a high range.

It’s a persistent problem. The relative cheapness of our power and gas has caused the US to lag other economies in energy efficiency and renewables. Doubling down is unsurprising and tragic.
