Thanks for the response I have a friend over from Australia and he just visited Albert to see his great uncle - he is buried there he was in the Australian army and had fought in Gallipoli and then died in August on the Somme - and he has this book

I made a pact to finish any books I started and abandoned cos something more interesting came along this year - and I am getting there and no more books are to be bought until all books sitting waiting in the house are read - some are there nearly 20 years - I do a bio and fiction alternate

Oh Garp is fantastic

One of the books I cried at the end - remember most of this book and read it 30 years ago - loved Garp as well

Its a set up- he’s paid some guy to take a shot at him- just a slight wound now - for the sympathy vote and more distraction.
