I'm a Keaton fan (I wrote a whole book about his crew). Plenty has been written about him already. If I were somehow the boss of Movies Silently, I would say, "More reviews of Nordic movies I haven't heard of please!" But I am not, so I will thank you for the work you do.

Oh for goodness sake. The whole point of being a blogger is to write about whatever you want to write about. If they want Keaton reviews, they can write them themselves and put them on their own blogs.

Meanwhile, he held women readers in contempt, blaming them for all that was wrong with fiction. Then again, very little was up to his standards: he called Dickens a “blight.” Because of that, it bothers me a whole lot less that he’s been almost completely forgotten.

This month I wrote about a forerunner to the Academy Awards. In 1924, studio head Adolf Zukor invented an award to be given to the writer of the best story a film was based on, probably because ‘serious’ writers looked down on the movies.
