I’m an English artist, a painter. I’m also a collector of art so I sell my paintings through UK galleries and then go & buy art if I can. I’m curious about everything really & read a lot.
At the weekend this acrylic piece, on the left, sold at Soho Fine Art Gallery in Cambridge, England and today I put this oil piece, on the right, up for sale with British Contemporary Art @britishart.bsky.social ♥️👋🏼

Recently I’ve painted about 50 of these kind of koi paintings in oils in sizes from small to XL.

I became intrigued by the way the koi & the water affected each other

Many have already sold & the last large ones are now with UK based Soho Fine Art. #koi #oilpaintings #paintingsforsale #artforsale

Do you have those timeless moments when you just stop & stare, tuning in to all your senses. What can I hear? What can I smell? How do I feel? Those are the moments I try to notice & remember this is my only life, notice it. A sunset, a view across the ocean, stopping & staring in an art gallery.

Today is a gloomy, foggy morning in England but in my mind I’m painting a beach! Love a beach commission! 😍 #art #mindcontrol #escape #painting #myworld #mymind #commissions #beaches #artists

In 2020, to get me through the worst time in my life as my father lay dying, I painted & gifted 20 portraits to NHS Heroes. It was the best medicine for both of us. He didn’t recognise me at the end but thinking I was a nurse he proudly told me what his daughter had done ♥️ #nhs #artist #father #love

In 2019 I started mixing cold wax medium into my oil paints, I loved the effect. I had to find new ways of applying the paint to the surface as the wax clogged up brushes. For these paintings I used palette knives & silicon bowl scrapers. Still love this effect & plan to do more. #art #painting #oil

In my most recent paintings I’m using metallic powders mixed in with cold wax medium & oil paint to celebrate the light & glistening shimmers of the water which I find so emotionally beautiful, I don’t know why. This is a large framed painting, around 120 x120cm #paintingsforsale #therutlandgallery

Delhi 2018, expecting sun I was shocked by the polluted sky there. On return I painted a series, beautiful roses trying to survive the elements with that weak sun trying to break through.
Not a huge commercial success, nobody wants sad I guess but pleased I made paintings from the experience.

I needed an image of one of my sold paintings so I googled my name to find it & came across these companies I’ve never heard of selling canvas prints of my work! 🤬 Impossible to police these days!
I painted my hallway with or without hens a lot in those days as the light was so good in there.

Serious hibernation vibes this morning in my part of the UK. So I’m looking at where my painting archive went next after lavender & it was the humble hen that took my attention. The movement of hens seemed a good challenge to paint & they taught me to paint quickly with fast marks and energy.

After my post yesterday a collector sent me these close up photos of one of my lavender paintings in her sitting room! ♥️
Lots of bees & butterflies remind me how I love the continuity of that every year. Meantime a cold, wet windy day in my part of the UK, where did all the bees & butterflies go?

Good morning Bluesky people 👋🏼 sending you calming lavender this morning!
I’ve always loved lavender & like to paint it on a large scale. This one sold in 2014 and was a metre & a half wide. I’ve painted several others since & love getting lost in the tiny stems all working together with the bees.

Sending you Blueskyers a rhapsody of roses this morning!
I painted & sold this one 2013 & called it ‘I never promised you a rose garden’ . That year was a stinker & I hyper focused on this metre square acrylic painting to get me through. I learnt so much about hue & value, it was full of surprises

Good morning Blue Sky! I haven’t seen this painting since 2012 when it sold. I remember I’d only been painting for about a year, a big metre wide canvas. I learnt so much from it & I remember the thrill of painting that blue over the red as I started with a red ground, it made my eyes & mind pop!

I rarely remember to take a video of myself painting but I’m so glad I did on this occasion 3 years ago. This is my mum. She’s really poorly now & she won’t recover, I have no desire to paint at all. But this reminds me of how easy life is when your heart sings

Hello everyone, I’m wondering if there are any artists & art lovers here? I thought I’d start posting a painting a day! I made this piece using oil paint and cold wax medium which is great for getting textural expressive marks into a painting ♥️👋🏼
