Last part: “…. who require supports and special accommodations to engage in any capacity at all. Please leave this as an important option for so many who find value, self-worth and meaning in their work.”

Continued: “We applaud and promote competitive community-based employment if that is the right decision for that individual.  If the 14c Special Wage (subminimum) Certificate is eliminated it will only serve to remove a fair and meaningful employment choice for thousands of Minnesotans …….

I agree that disabled people should get equal pay for their work. I also believe that disabled people who aren’t able to work a minimum wage job ought to have choices and options for their lives as well.

It has been his choice to work there and he enjoys a much fuller life being there because they have a full day of activities which enriches his life much more than I ever could. I worry what would become of his life if they eliminated the sub minimum wage certificate. It would destroy his life.

My son does not have the ability to work at any job that would pay him minimum wage. He would need a lot of supervision and redirection. At his day program where he has been working for 17 years now, he gets to enjoy the option of doing a job where he feels productive and happy.

I will also advocate for a living wage for disabled people who are able to work at the same kinds of jobs that non-disabled people are able to do. Why can’t these two groups of abilities in disabled people be considered separately?

No one has yet provided another option for him. I even went to a session where the people were supposed to provide other options for him. They had nothing. I left feeling angry and gaslit. I will continue to fight to keep the rule for the people that need it.

Some disabled people, like my son, benefit from this rule because it gives him an option to do a job that makes him feel productive and happy. He chose this job working at a day program and now people want to eliminate the rule that would destroy the life he’s enjoyed for over 17 years.

Hoping to be completely well soon and hope to have a much healthier rest of the year. I rarely get sick so this has been hard.

Even my Fitbit app told me to slow down, said I was pushing myself too hard. We’d all gotten over the stomach bug, enjoyed a New Year’s Eve party, then a few days later, the cold bug.

Fortunately it was not covid or the norovirus that is going around. We only had two symptoms: fever and inability to keep things down.

I started feeling unwell Sunday night and was better by the day after Christmas although my tummy never fully recovered. Christmas dinner was ginger ale and rice.

But it wasn’t as bad as Christmas week. Son brought home stomach bug from being away for the weekend. He was sick Sunday and Monday and better by Christmas Eve.

Hi, I followed Brianna Wu initially because I remember her being fun at a Minicon years ago. I have since learned things about her and wasn’t on here awhile and have just now unfollowed and blocked her and was hoping to get removed from your list? Thanks!

I zoomed in on it and could see the places where it probably sparkles in reality. 😊

I’m too wordy for this app. Life in general has been harder lately. Not your fault at all. Yes, stop it brain weasels!

Also, I sent you a private message on Facebook.
