Nurse practitioner who is a blue dot in a super red state. Fighting for justice one day at a time 💙💙. I love reading, gardening, ceramics and spending time with my family
Thanks me too, it is really scary to think of missing my medication for 2 months.

So I will likely have to miss 2 infusions before insurance will approve them for me. This happened with injections in the past and once I restarted the injections they didn’t work anymore because of the time it took for insurance to approve them

Company to try to get information so I can pass it on to my doctor to prevent a lapse in my infusions and was told I will just have to wait to get my insurance card in the mail. My doctor’s office has already warned me this company may take 4-8 weeks to approve a medication I’ve been on for years

I have to take in order to be able to move without excruciating pain are beyond expensive. I tried several before my doctor started me on monthly infusions which work. The hospital I work for is switching insurance companies at the beginning of the year. I proactively contacted the insurance

I work at a facility that sees a lot of patients without insurance or are at or below the poverty level and many times they have to decide if they will pay their rent, buy food or pay for their medications and medications always lose that battle. I have an autoimmune disorder and the medications

Needs insulin to live and the cost of it in the US is too high. In the past I saw someone who was visiting from Mexico that was using insulin pens that cost $50.00 for 5 pens. Here it would cost a patient who doesn’t have insurance around $500 for the same medication
December 10, 2024 at 3:36 PM
Exactly, I’m a nurse practitioner and work in a hospital managing diabetic patients. The cost of insulin makes my blood boil especially since the doctors who discovered it sold the patent for $1.00 so any patient who needed it could afford it. Insulin is a life saving drug, everyone

Of things. It was never about the cost of eggs, bacon, gas or anything else. Trump speaks to who his voters are as people.
December 6, 2024 at 3:48 PM
So the people who voted for Trump were so concerned about the cost of everything yet vote for a man who wants to put tariffs on foreign goods which will result in higher prices. Also $10.8 billion dollars were spent on Black Friday so it’s ironic folks were complaining so much about the cost

Supplies at discharge, I wrote a diabetic educational booklet that is easy to understand and if a discharge looks dangerous to me I will pass on that information to department chairs. I think most in healthcare really do care but sometimes our hands are tied due to insurance rules.

They go home and try to get them follow-up appointments as well. I changed the culture for diabetics where I work. When I first took job patients were being prescribed insulin they couldn’t afford, that no longer happens. I make sure if they can’t afford diabetic testing supplies they get free
December 5, 2024 at 8:19 PM
Some may buy that is not my goal. I either manage the diabetics I see in the hospital alone or collaborate with the Attending physician. I provide the education on diabetes even if I’ve seen them multiple times in the past. I try to make sure they have the medication and supplies they need before

I stopped watching them in 2016 the first time Trump was elected. They have no backbone or moral compass and I’m sure if anything happened and they had to leave MSNBC they would run to Fox to try to get a job.

Are too many administrators in hospitals and the insurance companies make it difficult to provide the care that is needed. Some nurses have 8 patients and are running all day long, they barely have time to pee or eat during a shift. I’m afraid of what healthcare will look like in the future
December 5, 2024 at 7:09 PM
For patients but they don’t know what it takes to get people better. Our healthcare system Is reactionary instead of preventative. I don’t even know what the future of nursing will look like because no one wants to go to school to be a nurse then deal with all that entails. I personally feel there
December 5, 2024 at 7:06 PM
I’ve been a nurse for 32 years and healthcare has changed a lot since I first graduated from nursing school. I’m currently a nursing practitioner and help manage diabetic patients in a hospital. Everything is about cutting costs. It is amazing that insurance companies want to mandate how we care
December 5, 2024 at 7:03 PM
I work in healthcare and see how important it is for people to have health insurance. I’m concerned about the educational system in this country that is going to be destroyed by a Trump Presidency. I’m concerned for the many who will lose rights because folks voted for him.

Only to the people in Gaza but for my daughters who are of child bearing age, about my interracial marriage, about an escape plan for my family if things get too bad. When I voted I voted for Harris because of those concerns and many other concerns for those who will be a target of Trump.
December 5, 2024 at 3:43 PM
I didn’t go after your opinion. I’ve seen how little Trump cares for anyone who isn’t white. I was out in the streets protesting the Muslim ban, for women’s rights and the rights of other minorities so I’d suggest you honor my right as well. I’m terrified at what his Presidency is will mean not
December 5, 2024 at 3:41 PM
I also feel there were some shenanigans going on with the votes this election. Him saying he had enough votes and didn’t need anymore. His secret with Mike Johnson and being best buds with Musk, but I guess others in positions of power are not concerned 🤷🏽‍♀️
December 5, 2024 at 3:33 PM
Yes all life matters, I’m extremely upset about what Trump will do in the region. I feel like his “stopping the war in a day” means he will just let Netanyahu go scorched earth in the region. If it doesn’t profit him he doesn’t care
December 5, 2024 at 3:30 PM
You can have your opinion but I believe Gaza would have a better chance with Harris than Trump. She was not the President she is the VP. Trump is looking out for himself and sees dollar signs. He will allow all the people left in Gaza to be slaughtered without caring. He cares about white, rich men

About the possibility of losing Medicare benefits under Trump but they said it will never happen. I don’t understand voting against yourself, but they were warned.
December 5, 2024 at 3:22 PM
My in-laws have Medicare and my MIL was recently diagnosed with cancer but still voted for Trump. She was recently telling my husband how she had received fantastic care and how expensive her treatment would be without Medicare yet they voted for Trump. Prior to the election my husband talked to
