If they take them some thrift stores only accept 1/2 yd or larger pieces. Disappointing that they just dumped them. Another option is youth groups. You can also try selling on local or social marketplace.

Thanks. Yes the border is part of the pattern and pretty easy to make. The quilt is slightly smaller than the pattern calls for because I like making throw quilts, not bed quilts.
