Korczak has been depicted many times in pop culture and has many important books about him. His many important writings are still in print. He was an iconoclast who remains a cultural touchstone and example of moral compass and being an upstander. May his memory be forever blessed. (8)

In 2023, the Janusz Korczak hospitalization unit in the Department of General Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases of the Necker-Enfants Malades hospital at the Assistance-Publique Hôpitaux de Paris in France was the oldest children's hospital in the Western world, founded in 1801. (6)

In addition to the two statutes and the school, Korczak has a street named after him in Kyiv, Ukraine.
He also has a minor planet, 2163 Korczak named for him.
There are streets and monuments in honor of him all over the world. (5)

When ghetto liquidations began Korczak again was given an opportunity to flee; but he patently refused. As they came for them , Korczak marched to the cable cars with the children singing songs and waving flags and he made it seem like a fun game. They were sent to Treblinka to die in 1942.

Korczak most famously was given several opportunities by Nazi's and Polish government to leave for safety and was even given a pass to not have to live in the Warsaw Ghetto. He refused and went to the ghetto to be with his children and staff at the orphanage. (3)

Korzcak was one of the first proponents of individual rights for children and was also responsible for creating an orphanage in the Warsaw ghetto for children orphaned by the squalid conditions and mass deportations from the ghetto. Korzcak created an oasis of joyful childhood in the horror. (2)

What makes people stand up and do the right thing even if they know they themselves will never benefit from it? One of my personal heroes and inspiration , Dr. Janusz Korczak was a prominent pediatrician and author
And considered a National treasure in Poland and beyond. (1)
