Shut up and let them learn. Teachers love to talk.

Kids can’t learn while you are babbling at them.

Giving them information, instructions or telling them a story is not learning.

It is when they get to process, practice and apply, that is when the learning happens.

This is an equity issue, not a deficit issue. These students can achieve NCEA literacy and numeracy. So what’s stopping them?
🔹 Attendance?
🔹 Access to devices?
🔹 Best-practice teaching?
🔹 Poverty pressures?
Principals must believe their students can succeed and actively remove barriers to learning.
