I for one, am also happy with pictures of cute little bugs! We thought this might be a strange sort of lady bug, but google lens suggests it to be one of many nymph stages of the shield bug. Also known as stink bug, but I've never noticed any smell :)

Why does the Republican business man put up with Trump's destruction of actually has made American great? They are not blind. Their bank accounts will suffer.

Really, Politico? There is no Twitter anymore, haven't you heard? Only X, the home of DOGE chainsaws, Nazis and white supremacists.

How am I supposed to trust your being up-to-date when you can't even get this most obvious and well-known fact right?

Besides that, where is BlueSky?????

And here are winter aconite - poison in your garden, but so pretty, and snowdrops, which I read (wiki) contain lectin, so not really to be eaten, but might have been Homer's "mysterious magical herb 'moly' ... antidote to Circe's poison." Photo from today.

Anybody can do pretty ;) These are amazing, to me. Bok choy plants, planted from old seed in the early fall and left on the terrace - temps down to -7°C (that's around 19°F for the non-metric among you) It's February, that low temp was recent, and yet look! The pic is from today.

As a counterweight, might I suggest Ted Chiang's book of short stories, "Exhalation"?

Just for balance.

We have an olive tree in a pot that we bring in at Christmas and decorate.

Which is odd, given that I live in Germany, origin of the evergreen tree tradition.

But makes sense to me, given that Jesus of Nazareth was born in the Middle East where there are far more olive trees than fir trees 😂

Daniel Mason's "North Woods". It's a book to be enjoyed leisurely, which rewards reflection while you read it and afterwards.

Graeber makes an interesting case that the ideas of the Enlightenment were supplied by native Americans. Freedom, liberty, autonomy brought to a central Europe and England that suffered under Aristocracy and Church.

Unfortunately, my old kitty, seen in front of the tv, died in 2022, at the ripe old age of 16 years. Pretty good for a stray cat's kitten. Now no cats, but a ball python lady. Will she do? Named "Toothless", because she is :)

I watched an X-Files episode last night (I missed the series when it came out, living in Germany). This morning, I look out the patio door to find something Mulderianly spooky. But thank goodness for Wiki. It turns out to be an "inverted ice spike". Truely rare. But no aliens involved :)
