Yup. I live in northern VA and prices are typically higher than other areas, but cereal shouldn't be $5-$7 a box. A pound of american cheese is over $10. Forget abt deli meats for sandwiches, that's even higher. Peanut butter is just shy of $5 and jelly is more than that. It's crazy.

Same! I also have 2 teen sons (well, one's really a tween). Two bags of groceries (just the basics) was more than $100.

This idiocy is one of the many things keeping me up at night. My sons were 5 and 7 when my husband died. I thank God every day for the survivor benefits they receive. It's what helps keep us afloat.

Aside from the other shortcomings noted by others here, does anyone else take issue with the fact that Gleason's declaration isn't based solely on her personal knowledge? It's also based, purportedly, on info provided to her in the course of performing her duties. It's the first thing I noticed.

Social Security Survivor Benefits are a lifeline for me and my sons since my husband died 6 years ago. Can't imagine not having access to these funds.

I guess Title VI of the Civil Rights Act is now going to be ignored by this admin. For those unfamiliar with the interplay between SPED, race and gender, DOE's site still has "Dear Colleague" ltrs that address OCR's responsibility to investigate/take action against schools for violating these laws:

Learned in law school not to use the phrase, especially if addressing the court. As one senior lawyer told me (a baby lawyer at the time), it's more of a big "F" you, and everyone knows.
