Not on Medicaid? Don't get your insurance through the Marketplace? You're still gonna get screwed with all the changes coming down the pike.

Keep calling your members of Congress. Tell them at MINIMUM to extend Marketplace subsidies.

The company we currently get our insurance from has already indicated they are expecting a rate increase of 34% for their marketplace plans in my state for next year. They are raising rates because they are going to lose a bunch of people who will go uninsured because the subsidies will be gone.

This year, the cost for the SAME plan went up $300 a month, so my family is covering that cost (to be very clear, we are in a very privileged position to be able to do this. I am just using this as an example).

Case in point: my family gets insurance through the marketplace because no insurance company will even bid on covering the small-ish organization I work for. So my employer subsidizes coverage for employees (thank goodness). Last year, that subsidy covered the cost of my family's monthly premium.

And the impact won't just be on people who qualify for subsidies - insurance companies are already indicating rate increases that will put others who access insurance through the marketplace out of reach.

I'm glad she and others are telling their stories, because I think a lot of people are going to be really surprised at how widespread and devastating the impact will be.
